Although he was born and spent his formative years there, Dennis has not lived in Halifax since 1962. The result is that the city, particularly the South End, has become a sealed time capsule, bathed in the warm glow of nostalgia. "Halifax Memories" is an attempt to recapture those times.

122. Diana Sweets

For some reason the memory that sticks in my mind about Diana Sweets is Tommy Sweet, one of its owners (the others being his father and brothers) pushing his index finger through the cardboard cap on the quart milk bottle as he poured the contents into the metal container before putting it up under ... click for more

121. Christmas in Tooting (II)

Since I have spaces for five attachments and there are only three pages left in the letter, I thought I'd include two pictures of English currency from roughly the period of Olof's letter to fill the gaps. The first is a one pound note - in those days worth about $5.00 Canadian - and features the he ... click for more

Since the "Letter from France" is short - only two pages - I've simply scanned it rather than transcribing it, which might be an idea for fut ... click for more
